EPHRIAM LEWIS

On the cusp of fame and stardom, a young man from England life was cut short by tragic and controversial end. Ephriam Lewis was an English Soul, Neo Soul, R&B singer and song writer. He emerged in the 1990's as one of the most highly anticipated acts of the year. Lewis' voice has been compared to the style of Seal with a touch of Marvin Gaye's seductive vocals. He signed with Electra Records in 1992, his debut album SKIN was released on April 21, 1992. On March 18, 1994 while in Los Angeles he fell to his death from a hotel balcony. Questions were raised when the Los Angeles Police were called because of his bizarre behavior and was tazed many times which caused him to jump or either fall from a hotel balcony. The Los Angels Police during this decade was known for it's brutality. Though, the coroner ruled his death a suicide many questions linger around these peculiar event, Ephriam Lewis was only 26. Lewis recorded one memorable album that spun two singles: It Can't Be Forever and Drowning in Your Eyes. His legacy should be his song stylings and not for the controversy that ultimately took his life.
